Slovakia Guide for the New Traveler

Many people do not realize that there is a quaint little country located in the heart of Europe.  Slovakia, officially known as the Slovak Republic, used to be part of Czechoslovakia, but in 1993, peacefully separated from the Czech Republic and became an independent nation.  Slovakia has since become an ideal location for tourism and travel.
Slovakia
Slovakia tourism is generated by its mountainous regions and includes many winter sporting events.  The country has a number of modern conveniences, such as five star hotels and an active nightlife in the major cities, but still retains much of the culture and history of the native Slovak people.  The Slovak people have a reputation for being friendly and welcoming to travelers and have always been some of the most hospitable people in Europe.

A flight to Slovakia is easily found and there are multiple flights daily out of the main airport in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.  The airport, known as the Milan Rastislav Stefanik Airport, offers access to any part of Slovakia.  The main expressway that connects to western Slovakia is only a five minute drive from the airport and there is a bus service that connects to the more popular international airport in Vienna, if you wish to travel to Slovakia via this airport.

Slovakia travel is easy once you decide on the type of experience you wish to have.  If you wish to travel in Slovakia, one of the best ways to travel is by renting a car.  There are many sights and scenic views that make any drive across Slovakia a unique and satisfying experience.   The other way to travel Slovakia in style is the experience of taking the train.  The train covers most of the country and provides access to the neighboring countries of Austria or Hungary.

If you are travelling to Slovakia from another country, then one of the first steps is to check in with the Slovakia embassy.  The embassy will help you with any questions you may have on travel visas and the necessary requirements to travel within the country.  Those who wish to have travel into the mountains for recreation need to check with the embassy, they will have all of the necessary paperwork for registration.  This is recommended because if there is a problem, injury or an accident, then the embassy will have a record of who you are and where you were planning to travel.
